Emergency Preparedness is very important. Here are a few tips and some information that will help you be prepared for an emergency.

1) Know the risks

Example of risks that may occur: blackout, blizzard, flood, wildfire, etc.

2) Make a plan

If you have a plan it will help you & your family to know what to do in case of an emergency. Plan an escape route, have a safe and common meeting place, and also have a plan for your pets. Keep the document with your emergency kit so you know where it is.

3) Prepare a kit

Here are some items that you would have in your emergency kit: water, canned food, energy bars, manual can opener, flashlight with extra batteries or a flashlight that doesn't require batteries, first aid kit, candles, matches, blanket, extra keys for your house & car, some cash and change for payphones. Additional items may include: extra change of clothes, blankets, basic tools, toilet paper, baby food if applicable and any other items you may need.
